Colonel Scott A. Cuomo has had the privilege to serve Marines and Sailors for more than 23 years. Prior to his selection to serve Weapons Training Battalion, Quantico, he served in the following billets:
- Senior U.S. Marine Corps Advisor for Force Development and Emerging Capabilities, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy
- Commanding Officer, 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion and Task Unit 61.2.4.2
- Commandant of the Marine Corps Strategist Program
- Operational Planner and Ground Combat Element Integration Officer, Headquarters Marine Corps Aviation
- Director, Infantry Officer Course
- Operations Officer, Battalion Landing Team 2/2, 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit
He has also served Marines and Sailors in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as on Amphibious Ready Group / Marine Expeditionary Unit deployments in U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, U.S. Central Command, U.S. European Command, and U.S. Africa Command. Additionally, he served Marines and Sailors executing an experimental Reconnaissance and Counter-Reconnaissance deployment in the Baltic and Black Sea regions.
He is a graduate of the following military schools: The Basic School, Infantry Officer Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, Command and Staff College (non-resident), Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, and School of Advanced Warfighting. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Georgetown University’s Security Studies Program, and Georgetown University’s Government Department PhD program.
